Employment-related services

Job search help, kept with the file

Counselling, workshops, mentoring and job fairs sit with each client’s other services. Cairn records what iCARE asks about their work.

The Today page for a caseworker: one session done, three coming up, tasks due and cases that need attention.

Five activity types

Counselling, workshops and more, each on its own form

Pick the activity type, and Cairn asks only what its template needs.

  • Individual counselling, workshops and mentorship
  • Networking events, job fairs and résumé screening
  • Work placements and short unpaid orientations
A session’s iCARE answers for one client: language, delivery format, support services and the module’s questions.

About each client

Where each person is in their career

For every session, record each client’s employment status and the job they’re working towards.

  • Intended occupation found by title or NOC code
  • Referrals made in individual counselling
  • Never copied from one client to another
A case management case open on its notes, with each contact’s date, type and note.

Ready for iCARE

Employment-related services report on five IRCC templates, one for each activity type.

Only sessions under an IRCC agreement covering ERS are reported. Provincially funded programs can stay out.

  • Topics, activities and sector-specific programs
  • Each client’s employment status in Canada
  • Intended occupation from NOC 2021
  • Language used, formats, supports and hours

Questions about employment services

Can’t find what you need? Write to us and a person will answer.

[email protected]
Does a walk-in visit to our resource centre count?

A visit where staff help the client counts as individual counselling. Using a computer on their own doesn’t.

Can employers and mentors be recorded?

iCARE reports only newcomer clients, so name employers, mentors and recruiters in the session summary.

Can we report our own employment numbers?

Yes. Program managers build reports on sessions and clients for their program, by month, site or topic.
